It's a strange idea but we like it: this app lets you assign special vibrations to contacts. So your special someone could be a 'bounce' vibration and your mum could be… hang on, this is getting weird. Custom text message alerts are coming soon too.

The Photographer's Ephemeris £3.12

One for outdoor photographers, TPE proves there's an app for everything. It calculates how light from the sun and moon will fall anywhere on earth so that you can plan for that landscape, nature or travel shot accordingly. Clever stuff.

Atari's Greatest Hits £Free

Missile Command is free but you'll have to fork out for the in-app purchase of other Atari classics like Pong, Asteroids and Centipede. Retro-tastic – with multiplayer headed our way soon.

Not an app to get you springing out of bed in the morning but Tube Refund Pro might make you some money, which is more than most can say. It simplifies claiming refunds for tube, overground and DLR train journeys in London. And it's free for the first 30 days.
