BenQ has sent an army of new digicams, projectors and LCDs into action on the high-def battlegrounds, with some promising to march their way over to the UK.
On the left is what the company calls ‘the world’s slimmest 6MP camera’, which the X610 may well be – at 19mm thick, it beats the most famous 6MP waif, Sony’s T9, by 1mm.
That’s all very well, but is it any good? We’ll have to wait for a full test before deciding that, but the specs look promising: there’s a big 3in LCD, 3x optical zoom and the ability to shoot 640x480 pixel video.
While the X610 leads a further five compacts into the digicam trenches, the W100 projector on the right is prepping itself for high-def projector duty.
The DLP number has two DVI connections – one analogue, one digital – and can project SXGA (1280x1024 pixel) images. Another model called the W1000, which can project 1080p images, has also been announced.
We’re waiting for confirmation from BenQ on the X610’s price and availability, but the W100 has now appeared on its UK site and will be available for under £500. You can find more info on both from the company’s international site.
