BBC launches updated live video player in preparation for Olympics

The Beeb is ramping up its training for this summer's sporting extravaganza with a whole host of new live video player features

The BBC has launched its new live video player ahead of the London 2012 Olympics, which is now capable of streaming 24 HD channels of glorious sporting action, in addition to displaying a whole bunch of extra information and stats.

The new live video player will play nice on PCs and Flash-supporting tablets, and Flash-less offerings like the iPad and certain mobiles will have access to a less interactive version of the live stream.

The BBC Sport Facebook app will also get in on the action, allowing you to see which of your sporty friends are watching the same streams.

Quite the update from the Beeb, then, and one that will be welcomed by sports fanatics up and down the country we're sure. Now if you'll excuse us, we've got some remote control lifting to do – we're in training too, you know.
