The BBC has announced the timetable that will see Freeview HD services go live in around 50% of UK homes in time for the World Cup in June.
Manchester and London will be the first to see the benefits from 2 December this year, with Newcastle and Tyneside following closely behind in February.
Leeds, Bradford, Birmingham, Glasgow and Cardiff will all ready to go by the end of March 2010.
To benefit, users will need to upgrade their equipment and the Beeb says Freeview HD receivers, including set top boxes, digital television recorders and integrated TVs, will be available from early 2010.
You can check out the BBC’s full timescale on the roll out on now, or from January 2010, you’ll be able to enter your postcode on the Freeview website to find out when HD services will go live in your area.
We’ll keep you up to date on compatible hardware announcements as we get them, but in the meantime give us your thoughts on HD Freeview below.
