Batman: Arkham Origins trailer released

The Dark Knight takes on Deathstroke in a five-minute smackdown

WB Games Montréal is beavering away on Batman: Arkham Origins, the prequel to Batman: Arkham Asylum and Batman: Arkham City – and now it's taken the wraps off the first trailer for the game.

Batman: Arkham Origins pits the Dark Knight against a succession of assassins hired by the villainous Black Mask – on Christmas Eve, no less – with the trailer showcasing a confrontation between Batman and Deathstroke.

The game's played out on a map that's around twice the size of the playable area from Batman: Arkham City, adding a new southern island to the Arkham City map – which, this being a prequel, isn't closed off as it was in the previous game.

So, is Batman: Arkham Origins set to be a Christmas cracker or a disappointing pair of socks? You'll have to wait until the game's release on October 25th to find out – it'll be available for PC, PS3, Xbox 360 and Wii U.
