What is this, an industrial drinks rack? Nope – this is Barobot, an open-source robotic bartender. It'll hold up to 12 bottles and can mix up to 1000 different cocktails – and, its creators say, you're guaranteed a perfect drink every time. 100 times, to be exact – assuming you fill it with 12 bottles. It'll take anything from 0.5l to 2.5l bottles, and features 20ml and 50ml measures; it can also pour part measures.
How do I choose my preferred tipple? Barobot's controlled using a 7in Android tablet and Arduino-compatible architecture. The Barobot control app lets you pick drinks from its database by ingredients, flavour or even colour; there's also an "I feel lucky" option, if you're particularly brave. Of course, you can also create your own concoctions, if you're determined to make use of the bottles in the back of your drinks cabinet.
What about later in the evening, when everyone's merry? The Barobot interface is designed to be simple, so even the booze-filled shouldn't have trouble ordering their next drink. Though perhaps they should. If you're feeling lazy, you can even download the app for your phone or tablet, and pre-order your drink from the couch. The next step, surely, is drone waiters.
Does it come in black? Yes, Bruce Wayne. Yes it does. The Barobot's available in clear or black acrylic glass finishes – whichever one you pick, it packs 106 LED lights that allow you to customise the colour to match your party's mood. You can even sync it up with your music. You can order it as a self-assembly kit or fully-assembled, and because the design's open-source, you can add your own sensors if you want to add to its capabilities.
How much is it?Barobot's currently seeking funding on Kickstarter; you can pledge £860 for a kit, or £1300 for a fully-assembled Barobot. If you're feeling particularly generous, you can get a custom-designed model for £3500.
