So what if it didn't look the most finished of articles at the CES preview? The S-XGen was drawing a crowd, beyond the few who'd turned up only because its name had the word 'sex' in it if you moved the letters around (and ignored a few).

The S-XGen is an Ultra Mobile Portable Computer with a grown-ups keyboard. The manner of its attachment may prompt memories of the original Palm fold-out 'boards, but so what - it folds into a paperback-sized package, and at no time (unlike most of its rivals) will it demand that you have the have the fingers of a nine-month old grafted onto your 52-year-old hands just to type a letter.

You can see the S-XGen in action by heading over to our coverage on Google Video.

It tips the bathroom scales at 14oz, stands at 6.5in long, and packs wi-fi, Bluetooth, a 20GB drive and Windows CE 5.0. Our American friends will be paying $1400 when it goes on sales in the States soon. As soon as they buy one, they can begin playing with its 4in 470x280 screen and 280-pixel video camera. Lucky people.
