Archos reveals 7in Ice Cream Sandwich Child Pad for kids

Remember when the little tykes were happy enough with just Nerf guns and teddy bears?

If the thought of letting your little tyke get their sticky paws on your iPad 3 brings you out in a cold sweat, fret no more. Archos has revealed a 7in Ice Cream Sandwich tablet aimed at children called the Child Pad, which will go on sale at the end of this month for the low price of US$130 in the US or £99 in the UK.

While it might not offer the same specs as Huawei’s quad-core MediaPad 10 FHD tablet (hands on review here), Junior will still be getting a 1Ghz processor and 1GB RAM-powered slate with Ice Cream Sandwich right out of the box, with the added bonus of Mobile Parental Filter technology.

Archos also plans to pair up the Child Pad with the AppLibs Kids App Store’s offering of over 10,000 apps, games and books – perfect for little gadgeteers in the making. Or for grown-up geeks with a tight budget and a taste for Ice Cream Sandwich…
