Archos G9 tablets will get Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich in 2012

The update news starts rolling in as Google's latest OS looks set to make its mark on more slabs of tech

Archos has announced that its G8 and G9 tablets will be chomping down on some Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich goodness in the first quarter of next year.

The tablets will be joining the ranks of the Motorola Xoom 2 and Asus Transformer Prime, which are also expected to upgrade to Google's latest OS in the near future.

Ice Cream Sandwich has already made a video appearance running on the Archos G9, and with a confirmed dual-core 1.5GHz Turbo G9 in the running for a Christmas release, we shouldn't have too long to wait for the updates to roll out next year.
