Apple’s U2 iPod, the unnecessary sequel

Apple has done the unthinkable and followed up its woeful iPod speakers with another product that we really don’t want – this ‘special edition’ update to its U2 iPod.

So, what’s so ‘special’ about the new version? Well, um, you do get a free iTunes Music Store voucher which will give you 30 minutes of music videos and interviews from the Irish rock dinosaurs.

And that’s it we’re afraid – it’s still based on the 30GB iPod video, has the band’s signatures engraved on the back, and advertises your penchant for stadium rock with its red and black colouring.

Don’t worry, you still get to pay a small premium for being a fan too – it costs £240 from Apple’s store now. We’ve nothing against U2, but surely it’s time for a tie-in with a band who don’t remember the 1960s?
