Apple’s New York education event on January 19th could launch the iTextbook

The Cupertino tech giant will head out to the East coast for an education-themed bonanza

The rumour of the iTextbook which made the rounds last week looks to be bearing fruit, with Apple officially announcing an education-themed event at the Guggenheim museum in New York City on January 19th.

It’s highly unlikely that any new hardware will be unveiled, but Steve Jobs’ vision of reinventing the textbook could be fulfilled.

We're expecting to see an event focused on a distribution deal with publishers to make the purchasing of educational materials as easy as buying an app from the App Store.

Will it be enough to satiate our desire for an official iPad 3 announcement? We’ll find out come Thursday next week…
