Apple's new OS has been hiding in the long grass since back in April, when Apple said it would be delayed to get the iPhone out on time.It promised then that we'd get our hands on OS X 10.5 (codenamed Leopard) this month and today Apple has confirmed it'll be coming good on that pledge.Several of the usual Mac rumour sources began today by naming next Friday as the day we'd finally get our hands on the new look OS, with its upgraded Finder, improved Spotlight and Time Machine back-up. And just as we tucked into our sandwiches at lunch an email confirmation from Apple plopped into our inbox.Word is that some Apple stores will be opening late to get the upgrade speedily into the hands of eager Mac fans. Better start warming that Thermos.EssentialsApple Mac OS X LeopardPrice: £85On sale: 26 October Contact: AppleRelated stories:Stuff Forum: Is Leopard about to pounceAPPLE WWDC SPECIAL: Leopard loose, Windows on Safari and iPhone appsGoodbye Mac Mini, hello Mac Nano?
