Apple working on Thunderbolt-equipped iPhone and iPad

Patent rummaging has revealed plans for super fast data transfer headed the way of your iOS devices

If you got excited about Apple's Thunderbolt Display with 10Gbps two-way data transfer with your MacBook, you might be interested in what Patently Apple has dug up – it looks like Apple may be planning to add Thunderbolt  connectivity to its iPads and iPhones.

The patents refer to a "new type of connection" between a portable media player and a display, a computer and a display or other devices.

So it looks like you could be hooking up Thunderbolt connectors to an iPhone 5, iPad 3 and next-gen iPod Touch – meaning faster data transfer and faster battery charging. Yep, we could get on board with that.
