Frankly, all this 3G iPhone chat is weighing me down. We’ve not learnt anything new in the last few weeks, just rumour after rumour about what it’ll pack and when it’ll launch. WWDC seems like a good bet.Today though, one rumour has caught my eye. Both MacRumors and Apple Insider are reporting that Intel’s Germany chief Hannes Schwaderer has said a version of the iPhone will pack Intel’s Atom chip. The suggestion is that this will sit inside a larger version of the blower, most likely a multitouch tablet. So, the question is, are we looking at the latest incarnation of the Newton? It’s a real possibility. Age-old rumours point to a mid–year release of a 720x480 display, about 1.5 times the size of the current iPhone, according to the chaps at Engadget.Intel’s already lining up a June release for Atom, and what better way to grab the headlines than slapping it in a revolutionary new device. So, some more idle chatter to chuck in the Apple rumours folder. What do you reckon? Let us know in the comments section.3G iPhone “in coming weeks” – O2
