Ultra secret, specialist computer and gadget mastermind Apple keeps its cards very close to its smooth white chest. So close, even Steve Job’s own family don’t know what Apple’s up to half the time.
But that hasn’t stopped a US website apparently digging up dirt on what Apple plans to release very soon. The site quotes its buddies, part of Apple’s Asian manufacturing partners, as saying the company is releasing an ultra thin MacBook.
The source said the MacBook thin will sport a 12in screen and be half the thickness and half the weight of the current MacBook Pro. At 2.6cm, that makes this imaginary new thin Mac about 1.3cm thick – making it actually impossible to see it side on. A bit.
It would also use flash memory and sit on the shelves at less than $1,500 (£750).
The other major rumour leaked from secret agents inside the Asian-based Mac plant is a May/June release for the 3G iPhone. Finally.
We’ll find out in January how true all this is, when Apple puts on its indulgent Mac World event.
Taking bets now: Thin MacBook 8/1, 3G iPhone by June 3/1, portable all-formats gaming machine in the shape of Steve Jobs’ head 2/1.
