Apple prices set to drop on UK Black Friday

Want a cheap iPhone? Friday could be the day your number comes in

The Americans have given us lots of things – potatoes, baseball caps and Marilyn Monroe among them. The latest Stateside trend to wash up on our rainy British shores is Black Friday, the post-Thanksgiving mall rush to snap up cut-price stuff. And this year Apple’s joining the seething throng.

Come Friday we’ll be attempting to shepherd you through the shoutiness as all manner of electronics shops bombard us with details of their deals, but we’ve got a heads-up on Apple's "shopping event" already, and you don’t even need to enter the living hell that is a pre-Christmas mall.

Apple will be holding its UK Black Friday sale online and in its physical stores, with a teaser graphic suggesting that laptops (including the MacBook Air), iPads and Apple TVs might be getting their prices slashed. Keyboards (yawn) and mice (ditto) are present and correct, as is an iPhone (or is it just an iPod Touch?) and an iMac (or Cinema Display?).

Our advice is to wait and see, but you’d be well advised to hold of buying Apple kit this week and see what deals await on Friday. Who said the Americans never did anything for us?
