Apple and BlackBerry have mixed their juices to come up with a new smartphone hybrid – the Crumble.
The phone, which will see BlackBerry’s tasty, tactile and thumbable keyboard bludgeoned into Apple’s signature iPhone 4S touchscreen device, is expected to launch within days.
A queue of maladroit gadget fans wearing a baffling uniform of Apple t-shirts and BlackBerry baseball caps has already formed outside Computer World in London’s Tottenham Court Road in eager anticipation of the Crumble’s release.
First in line to get his hammy fists on the hybrid smartphone is Geoff Allthumbs from Ashby-de-la-Zouche in Leicestershire.
“I can’t wait to see how much better Apple’s iPhone will be when half the screen is taken up by a massive physical keyboard,” he enthused, adding, “My fingers are tingling in anticipation.”
The partnership between BlackBerry and Apple, if successful, is rumoured to spawn a range of new devices ranging from the budget Pie to the high-class Tart.
A joint spokesman for the two smartphone giants confirmed to us that “there are plans to build on the success of the Apple and BlackBerry Crumble, but the proof will be in the pudding.”
