Audible has over 40,000 books, magazines and newspapers available for download, while the UK website has another 18,000 top picks. The buy will surely mean that users will soon be able to download the audio version of their chosen paperback if they're feeling a bit lazy or want to save valuable eye calories.

Amazon US already offers music and movie downloads, as well as e-book files for its recently launched Kindle reader, and I sincerely hope that the UK won't be too far behind. Looks like queuing in the Royal Mail collection office may soon be a thing of the past.
