It's not easy finding a trainer that's good for distance running and also looks cool. Adidas' new AdiZero range, though, have got a chance of ticking both boxes with their mix of lightweight comfort and Japanese chic.

Some runners – usually the ones who wear unnecessarily small shorts – will probably dismiss the eight-strong line-up as marketing guff, but some experienced testers are already talking approvingly of their roomy feel and lightness. Haile Gebrselassie also recently set a world record in them, although he'd probably win the London marathon in wellies.

The ones above are the AdiZero RC2s, which are geared for highly competitive runners like Haile, but there are seven other designs for men and women on show here on Adidas' US site. They're not yet available in the UK, but Adidas told us they may be arriving in March 2007.
