"Money talks and bullshit walks," as we are often heard saying, twanging our braces and chewing on outsize cigars. That's why when analysts start saying there's a 3G iPhone round the corner, we – and the real money men – start listening.
Analysts UBS reckon a deal between Apple and German chipmaker Infineon Technologies AG is on the cards, which will result in the European company supplying the processors for a next-generation iPhone.
If all goes to plan, that could result in a 3G iPhone launching by the middle of the year – prompting a sell-off of old iPhones to clear stock.
Of course, you need to factor in the usual transatlantic delay in any US product actually making it to Europe. 3G iPhones here by Christmas, then? Let's hope so.
