The big question is, will it be tied down to one network, O2–style, or are we finally looking at getting a mighty Jesus phone on any tariff that catches our bargain–hunting eye?
Reports over at 9to5Mac suggest that when the Aussies finally get some iPhone action later this year, it’ll be a 3G version that’ll play nice with any operator.
It’s not unlikely, and with O2’s contract here in Blighty only covering the current EDGE–toting blower, there’s a good chance that all networks will get a crack too.
Apple has said in the past they’re, “not married to the current carrier lock in model.” So as well as getting faster web and a slimmer model, could we be getting a cheeky slice of mobile freedom too? Those Aussie rumours auger well, that’s for sure.
Now all we need to do is wait. Will it be 60 days? Will we get it at WWDC? Or is this whole 3G thing just one out–of–control rumour? Tell us what you think in the comments section.
