A simple maxim for life you may feel. But not one adhered to in the States. Captured on digital video tape this man learns what happens when you accidentally drop the coveted machine in front of a tired queue of people waiting overnight to buy one. Within seconds it's pounced on by a hooded miscreant (above) who hot foots it across the car park leaving startled cameraman and queuers wondering what's just happened. We particularly like the Nelson-esque 'ha ha' at the 30 second mark.

The question is – is this fortuitous piece of footage actually real? Have Xbox shortages whipped people into enough of a frenzy to cause them to stash and dash when a hapless fool drops one at their feet?

Sadly not. A bit of digging turns up the original source of this butter-fingered Xbox owner - serial prankster Schuby. Just remember, don't try this at home.
