Say 'bon voyage' to roaming charges – 3's scrapping them on all seven of its foreign networks. No more shall we be stung at sky-high rates for snatched conversations. From today 3 users can roam free in Austria, Denmark, Ireland, Italy, Sweden and even Hong Kong and Australia (the seven countries where 3 has its own network). That means customers will be able to use their standard Pay Monthly allowances for calls, text and data with no extra premium.Pay As You Go customers won't miss out. They'll pay a flat 20p/min for voice calls, 50p/min for video calls, 10p per text and 25p per MMS – the same flat rates that those Pay Monthly types will be charged once they've used up their allowances.Calls to foreign numbers will cost no more than they would when calling from old Blighty and, best of all, there'll be no charge for receiving calls on 3 abroad – so you can natter for as long as you like and let the caller pick up the tab.3's the first provider to make such a worldwide move, laying down a clear challenge to the likes of Vodafone with its massive global network. So come on Vodafone, Orange, T-Mobile and O2 – stop ripping us off.
