2011 in tech – July

July was all about 3D – and the new MacBook Air

July was all about 3D, with the LG Optimus 3D hitting the shelves and HTC announcing the imminent arrival of its own three-dimensional blower, the Evo 3D.

Cloud music also hit the headlines in July, as Amazon launched its cloud player on the iPad while Spotify finally let the US of A in on its streaming music action.

Apple unleashed the latest iteration of its MacBook Air, alongside OS X Lion – and finally killed off the aging MacBook line, doing away with white plastic in favour of shiny aluminium unibody designs across its entire range of computers.  Apple also released its Thunderbolt Display into the wild, meaning that MacBook Pro owners could finally do something with that Thunderbolt port.
