It took a while getting there but Pentax has finally rolled out its first 12MP snapper.Making its way to the top of Pentax's crème-de-la-crème A-Series, the A40 features not one, not two, but three types of wobble reducing features to steady its 3x optical zoom lens.First there's optical SR to shift the sensor when hands quiver; then there's Digital SR to up the ISO in low light thus increasing the shutter speed and reducing movement blur. Lastly there's Movie SR, which uses spare pixels on the sensor to iron out wobbles during filming.Pentax promises the 12MP chip will deliver snaps of the finest detail, aided by its new 'Dynamic Range Adjustment' to even out under-exposed dark areas and over-blown light ones. There's also a crafty 'Head and Shoulders' mode which uses the face recognition function to get a lock on people's torsos and take a nicely cropped, 3MP portrait shot with zero photography skills needed. And we just thought it had dandruff.EssentialsPentax A40Price: £220On sale: NovemberContact: PentaxRelated stories:BenQ's super slim T800 piles on the pixelsBig-zooming SP-560 leads nine new Olympus camsCanon debuts octuplet of new cams
