We were expecting a solid gold player, confetti and fireworks at the till, and instant worldwide celebrity. But no, there wasn't so much as a party popper as some unsuspecting punter somewhere stepped up to the till to buy the one hundred millionth Apple iPod.Instead there was just a quick announcement from Apple HQ and a thank you from Steve Jobs to 'music lovers everywhere' as the brand that has outstripped all others slipped silently past the colossal landmark.By our reckoning that's about one iPod sold worldwide every two seconds since its launch in November 2001. Whoops, there goes another one. And another.Add to that the 2.5 billion music downloads, 50 milion TV shows and 1.3 million films sold on the iTunes Music Store, and you've got one wise business move.
