100 billion Skype minutes can't be wrong

Hey kids, heard about this new Skype thing? Apparently it's rather popular – so popular in fact that its minuteometer has just ticked over to its twelfth digit, meaning that a staggering 100 billion free Skype minutes have been served.

Okay, that's those short-changing thousand million American billions, not our million million British ones. But it's still a pretty colossal 100,000,000,000 minutes – or 190,258 years, 274 days, 10 hours and 40 minutes of Skype-to-Skype natter.

Not bad for a piece of software that's only been around since August 2003.

In fact, divide the total number of minutes served by the number of users and that's a generous 362 minutes and 20 seconds of free calls each. We'd work out how much that's saved everyone compared to landlines but our calculator's just exploded.
