Yes officially launches 4G plans along with new phone

UPDATE: Altitude phone supports 4G and VoLTE, retails for RM399

Looks like webe is the slowest to launch at this rate, as WIMAX provider YES has now launched its own 4G LTE service. Launched alongside the latest Samsung Galaxy J range, YES is also the first provider in the country to launch Voice Over LTE (VoLTE).

This is however just an announcement, the full launch is happening on 30 June. Plans and details of their offerings will be announced then.

YES claims it has built a completely new LTE network on top of its current 4G broadband offerings. Existing YES customers will receive a 12GB bonus to their postpaid plans, starting the next billing cycles.

The company also says that in the past 5 and a half years, it has managed to reach a coverage of 85 per cent of the population. Technically impressive as that is more than what Celcom has at the moment.

Looks like the telco wars have only just begun. We'll keep you updated on the latest YES 4G plans and on webe (whenever it finally chooses to launch).

UPDATE: For RM70 a month, subscribers will  get 24GB of data, 16GB allocated for LTE and 8GB broadband - a concept YES calls Double Data. YES also now has its own YES branded phone. The Altitude has a 5in HD display, VoLTE support and will retail for RM399.
