Want to feel old? 1995 was 20 years ago.
We only mention that depressing fact, because that's the year Lycos was founded. The now long-forgotten web portal was the most visited website in the world in 1999, letting users search the web and make use of Lycos' other online wares including the Angelfire web hosting/blogging tool. Now there are some names we haven't heard in a while.
Why are we talking about a former web giant long-since lost into obscurity? Because said former web giant has - and we swear we're not making this up - announced that it will be unveiling a lineup of new wearables.
Not just any wearables, mind. Wearables that are apparently so amazing, that they're "on the brink of a revolution" that will "[impact] the wearable tech marker". Intriguing, eh?
Lycos Life will apparently transform everyday products into futuristic accessories with "... the power to impact all facets of your daily life", increasing your personal security, and changing the way you share messages and record you workouts.
It sounds like the company has chucked everything but the kitchen sink into its mysterious wearable venture, and we're honestly not sure what to make of it.
It's quite possible that we've got some amazing tech to look forward to, none of which has leaked yet, thanks to the fact that almost everyone in the entire world forgot that the company existed in the first place.
The launch event kicks off this Thursday 4 June, so stay tuned for all the official info, as and when we get it.
