Xiaomi's gone and silently launched its Mi VR Play 2, the successor to last year's Mi VR Play.
Compared to last year's model, the Mi VR Play 2 is simpler and streamlined. No funky design options this time - there's just black and no word if Xiaomi will add other colour options down the line.
There's also no zipper, which means you can't zip in your phone, but you get a lighter design and an easier time inserting your smartphone. As this is a barebones VR, it will only work when connected to your smartphone and is not a standalone VR device.
Another new aspect of the device is that it has better ventilation, allowing air to circulate around your face. Perhaps to prevent the chafing and discomfort often felt with a lot of cheaper VR headsets.
The RMB99 (RM65) price is killer, though. It will start selling in China from 19 April onwards and it won't be surprising if it proves a fast-selling hit.
