Xiaomi put up a video teaser today, hinting at something new coming on Nov 17. What could it be? Nothing less than a phone, we gather though the video has scant clues as to what the device actually is.
If you're in the market for a Redmi Note that is
The Redmi Note is basically the poor man's Galaxy Note. Bigger, cheaper but definitely not better. What does the 4G have over the existing Note?
It has the same 8GB of flash memory but now supports the faster 4G network, from 3G. There’s also a slightly faster processor in the 1.6Hz Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 quad-core with a not too shabby Adreno 305 GPU.
Other things of note: a 3100mAh battery (smaller than the original 3200mAh), a 13MP rear camera,5MP front camera, 5.5-inch display.
It's likely Xiaomi chose to bring in the phone on the same date it opens its first official support centre in the country at Low Yat Plaza. As to whether the device actually goes on sale on the same day, that would perhaps be unlikely.
Expect more of the same 'flash sales' promotional tactics and perhaps more deals with online shopping store Lazada. If you would rather a higher-end spec phone instead, try heading over to ipmart.com which should stock both the Mi3 and Mi4 smartphones.

UPDATED 17/11/14: It's official, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4G is coming to Malaysia. Just days after its unveil in Singapore, the device has been announced in Malaysia.
If you haven't already snooped out its features, it includes LTE support, a 5.5in IPS display, 802.11ac, Snapdragon 400 quad core 1.6GHz processor, 2GB RAM, 8GB Flash ROM, a 13MP rear snapper, and a 3100mAh high-capacity battery amongst others.
But you might have to wait for a bit before you can get your hands on one. Even though the flash sale is on tomorrow (18 November) in Singapore, a Malaysia-specific one is yet to be announced. We'll update this space as soon as we hear of one.
