While the jury's still out as to whether the general public will pay for smartwatches full stop, Huawei may be expecting you to pay £650 (RM3600) for its smartwatch.
If the anonymous source speaking to BGR is to be believed then that's about what it's going to be charging for the Huawei Watch that was announced at MWC this year.
It all sounds a bit more outrageous when you consider that the price in US dollars is $1,000. It's a very nice looking timepiece and it may very well come with a sapphire crystal watch-face in a swanky stainless steel body, but it's not like we're talking about a Tissot, a Citizen or even an Apple Watch here. We're talking about Huawei.
That said, we were tentatively impressed by the Huawei Watch when we tried it out at MWC 2015; but it wasn't a finished version so we can't really vouch for whether the tech side of things is good enough to warrant the projected price tag. Stay tuned for our full review to find out.
As for the price: we won't know that for sure until the watch goes on sale at some point in the middle of the year.
