Watch this: The Simpsons pay tribute to Hayao Miyazaki

Ah yes, the good old Monday Blues, creeping up to you. Well, not if The Simpsons have anything to say about this.

The long-running show’s latest episode upped the ante yesterday, with a full-on tribute to famed Japanese animator Hayao Miyazaki. The filmmaker had announced that The Wind Rises will be his swan song.

All-round bum but loving father Homer is shown in a drunken stupor, and starts to hallucinate characters from the worlds Miyazaki has built over the years. Off the top of our heads, we recognised Spirited Away, Kiki’s Delivery Service and Howl’s Moving Castle.

Now excuse us, while we cuddle ourselves in a corner and enjoy this warm, fuzzy feeling in our anime-loving hearts. Oh, and await the arrival of The Simpsons Lego set, coming to a toy store near you.
