If you followed our Facebook page, you know that Vivo just launched their new V15 Pro which is available for pre-order now at their official Vivo website. Pre-order will be up from now until March 1st and will be up for purchase the day later.
During the launch event, we had the chance for a little hands-on with the smartphone in question. The V15 Pro comes in two colours: Topaz Blue and Coral Red. I’m partial to the Topaz Blue, but both have a gradient finish with, what they’re calling, a Spectrum Ripple design (image below), giving it a sleeker look along with the popping colours.
The main features are the cameras - starting with 48MP + 8MP Ultra wide + 5MP depth triple camera setup. Testing the camera on site, the photos came out very clean with details in tact. Switching over to the ultra wide lens, where I could have only see the five to six other people in front of me, I could then see the rest of the crowd - there were a lot of people there. The portrait mode for the bokeh effect was not as impressive, granted it was in a crowded location so take that with a grain of salt. Now we have to talk about the selfie camera, which is what Vivo has most been about - it pops up from where the triple camera bump is. It’s a small detail but I like how it’s aligned with the camera bump is and not somewhere else. Anyways, it’s 32MP so selfies do come out looking great, though I’m still sticking with the standard mode - the beautification post processing still leaves much to be desired. They also added the body shaping option like a certain other smartphone, which I’m genuinely surprised it has not garnered any social commentary.
The pop-up camera also gives way for a notch-less 6.39-inch Ultra FullView display with a 91.64% screen-body-ratio. The slim bezel also serve to provide a pleasing viewing experience for the screen.
The V15 Pro carries a Snapdragon 675 with 6GB of RAM and 128GB storage. For the little bit of time we had with the phone, everything operated smoothly even when multitasking though we had not tried gaming on it. This is the only RAM and storage option officially available in Malaysia. The battery is a moderate 3700mAh with ‘Dual-engine Fast Charging’, notably it’s only charged with a microUSB 2.0 and not USB-C.
As mentioned, the Vivo V15 Pro is available for pre-order now for MYR1,799 for the 6GB RAM + 128GB storage option at their official website and will be shipping out on March 2nd.
