One of the biggest rumours about the upcoming iPhone is that it will do away with the Home button, embedding it into the display.
While that is as yet unconfirmed, it looks as though Vivo might beat Apple to the punch.
More screen, less buttons
A video on Weibo shows what looks like a Vivo phone that can be unlocked via a tap on the screen - a fingerprint sensor that is hidden under the screen as opposed to sharing space with the home button or being in a separate location on its own.
Analyst Pan Jiutang thinks that while Vivo might be the first to bring out an under-screen fingerprint sensor, Apple might be the company to take similar tech mainstream. Samsung is not expected to introduce a similar feature on its Galaxy Note 8.
With the Shanghai Mobile World Congress coming up, Vivo might decide to show off the tech then - whether as a prototype or part of a new smartphone, it's hard to say as yet. We'll be sure to keep you posted.
