TM's new UniFi Lite is its cheapest UniFi plan yet

Cheaper than Streamyx to be sure, but not at all cheap

A Unifi flyer just leaked what might just be a new Telekom Malaysia (TM) plan.

A slightly cheaper alternative

TM's been criticised for its pricey broadband plans and the new Unifi Lite seems to be a concession to those who want to pay a little less for their Unifi.

Not that the UniFi Lite plan is cheap:it's RM149 a month for 10Mbps downloads and 5Mbps uploads. There's also 600 free minutes of STD calls as well as access to HyppTV Everywhere, and there's the usual 24-month contract.

For business users, there's also the UniFi Biz Lite plan which goes for the same speed, but at an RM199 monthly fee.

The criticism here is, however, that you're not allowed to opt out of HyppTV at all, which sucks for people with a subscription to Netflix or iFlix or both. No word either whether this plan will be offered as an alternative to current Streamyx users who are paying more for their plans, despite less-than-impressive packages compared to Unifi. Coverage area as well is still unknown.

If you're in rival Time's coverage area, though, check out what they have to offer which is higher speeds for less money than TM's current 50Mbps plan. N
