According to the company CEO Lei Jun, Xiaomi will be announcing a new Note device on 29 June this year. The information was revealed by the CEO on Weibo but without sharing much details.
This device that is soon to be announced will be different from the Xiaomi Mi Note and the Xiaomi Mi Note Pro that was announced in early January this year. Both devices will be powered by the yet-to-be released Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chipset.
It is a possibility that the announcement on 29 June will be about the new Redmi Note 2, which was allegedly spotted on TENAA’s website recently. The device will be powered by a 64-bit MediaTek MTK6795 chipset, and fitted with a 5.5in screen featuring a 1080 x 1920 resolution. As for the cameras, the device will feature a 13 MP rear sensor and a 5 MP front sensor.
We're not sure why Xiaomi is doubling-up on larger phones but so long as its price points remain super wallet-friendly, we don't think the masses will mind.
