Sony’s Xperia Z4 might be out sooner than we all expected

The device gets spotted on an Indonesian certification site
Sony’s Xperia Z4 might be out sooner than we all expected

Just a few days ago, we published information that the Sony Xperia Z4 might not make it in time for the MWC 2015 trade show at Barcelona in March. But by the looks of the latest leaks, that doesn’t seem to be so.

Sources have been playing with our feelings; with the latest giving us hope that Sony’s Xperia Z4 will be showcased in the coming weeks. According to Xperia Blog, three new model numbers of Sony devices were revealed on the Indonesian Postel regulatory site (meaning its unveil is imminent since it’s already being certified).

And of these three, one of them could be the Xperia Z4. How do we know this? Sources have indicated that the model number D65xx belonged to the Xperia Z2, and the codename D66xx belonged to the Xperia Z3.

As such, if Sony maintains its naming scheme, the Sony E6533 model could be the Xperia Z4 (the switch from “D” to “E” is said to signify the change from 2014 to 2015).

The other two models identified on the Indonesian Postel regulatory site happen to be the Sony E5333 and Sony E2353. The latter is said to be a low-end model, going by the codename that the cheaper Sony Xperia M2 had (D23XX). This device could perhaps, be a minor upgrade from the Sony Xperia M2.

As for the Sony E5333, it could be one to fill in the gaps between a flagship and a low-end model. This alleged mid-range device could be somewhat like the Xperia T2 Ultra (codenamed D53XX) but there’s no concrete proof of this speculation.

Once again, all bets are on that MWC 2015 could be the platform where these devices make their official debut. Hang tight – we’ll update this space with more rumours and leaks as they come.
