Sony's just launched its Remote Play app that will let you game on your PS4 from the comfort of your bed (or bathroom, we won't judge). What does it do, you ask? Well, it lets you connect to your PS4 via Wi-Fi and use the display on your smartphone or tablet instead.

The Remote Play app was launched specifically for the Xperia Z3, Z3 Compact and Z3 Tablet Compact and  Sony says only the Xperia Z2 and Z3 series will support the gaming functionality.

Besides a compatible Sony device, all you need is a Dualshock 4 wireless controller and you can skip moving to the living room to play your PS4 games.

While the app is available for the Z3 range currently, the Z2 series is still a work in progress.

Remote Play is also available for the Vita and PlayStation TV, the latter rolling out in Europe from Nov 14.

Other kit that Sony suggests would enhance your experience: the GCM10 Game Control Mount accessory for the Z3 and Dualshock 4 controller or pairing the Z3 Tablet Compact with Sony's own BSC10 Bluetooth Speaker Dock for better sound.

Though to be honest, if you need to be adding all the extras when gaming from your device, wouldn't it just be easier to plonk yourself on the sofa and turn on the TV?

The Remote Play app is available now on Google Play for the sweet price of free.
