Sony’s getting “Sirius” for MWC with the Xperia Z2

With a Quad HD screen and a whopping 3700mAh battery, the rumored Z2 looks like it’ll be making a splash at Mobile World Congress

Sony looks set to bring the Xperia Z1's successor to Mobile World Congress 2014.

That's according to Android SAS, whose source claims that the Sony Sirius device teased by serial leaker @evleaks is the Xperia Z2.

The rumoured spec list is as impressive as you'd expect for Sony’s next flagship, with a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, a 5.2in Quad HD (that’s 2K video to you) display, 3GB RAM, a 20.7MP rear camera, and – the thing that really caught our attention – a 3700mAh battery. That’s the same capacitiy as the LG G Flex had – and we know how much juice that monster gave out.

The Xperia Z2 is also expected to keep the signature dust and water protection found on the Xperia Z1, as well as Sony’s Mobile Bravia Engine 3 – and we can expect Android 4.4 KitKat on it too. It looks like Sony's stepping up its game this year and with the Z1 compact already unveiled, we’re pretty sure we can expect even more from them. No surprise, since Android rival Samsung is set to unveil the Galaxy S5 in March.
