Nobody is brave, crazy nor stupid enough to go against the Hulk. Apparently, Tony Stark, aka Iron Man, is all three.
Trailers of the upcoming Avengers: Age of Ultron have already shown Iron Man’s anti-Hulk armour, aptly named Hulkbuster, throwing punches with the big green guy. Theories surrounding the cause of this showdown have been rife, and the latest clip that was shown by Robery Downey Jr. at the MTV Movie Awards 2015 shed some light.
Again. We warn you one last time. This is spoiler material. So click on that x button, Ctrl+F4, CMD+W or whatever. Your final chance to turn away before you find out Banner went all Hulk on Stark for eating the last pizza.
Nah, just kidding.
Okay, seriously. The clip finally explains the significance of the Scarlet Witch (played by Elizabeth Olsen) and her role for the huge bill racked up by the Avengers’ when they tore through the city. “That little witch is messing with your mind. You’re stronger than her, you’re smarter than her. You’re Bruce Banner,” famous last words by Stark before Hulk pummels him.
This isn’t exactly new news, since fans have theorised that it wasn’t an internal discord, but an outsider influence that caused the fight between the two Avengers.
Still, this brings into question - how did the fight end? While Iron Man managed to repair the torn arm with a mobile armour station, the clip doesn’t show the victor. Speculation over that points towards a scene in the trailer with Banner wrapped in a blanket, looking anguished and lost.
On the bright side for Malaysia residents, Avengers: Age of Ultron will open here on 23 April, a full week before its official opening in the US. By then, we’ll be ready to reveal the hints of how all this ties in with how the Civil War begins in the next Captain America movie.
