Samsung recently announced the new Galaxy A series of smartphones for the year 2020. And to our amusement (and excitement), the launch video is pretty dope - quite literally in fact, featuring memes and meme-inspired sequences in a fast-paced, almost psychedelic montage. Check it out on YouTube here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NwFvlwe7HPo&feature=emb_logo
One can guess that the launch campaign is targeted to the younger consumers through its rather chaotic but fun-filled visuals, paired with a repetitive chant about the key features namely "awesome screen", "awesome camera", and "long-lasting battery life".
Samsung Galaxy A51
According to GSMArena, the Samsung Galaxy A51 is the successor of the Galaxy A50s. On the outside, it has a 6.5-inch 20:9 Infinity-O Super AMOLED screen with 1080 x 2400 pixels resolution (at 405 ppi density). The front-facing camera is a 32MP punch hole, which frees up a lot of display at 87.4% screen-to-body ratio.
The rear features a beautiful diamond-cut design, taking cues from its predecessor. The rear quad camera setup comprises a 48MP main, 12MP ultra wide, 5MP depth sensor and 5MP macro camera.
On the inside, it has an octa-core Exynos 9611 chipset, with a Mali-G72 graphics processor. It is configured at 128GB ROM and 6GB RAM right out of the box and has microSD card slot that allows for storage expansion up to 1TB. Lastly, its much-advertised long battery life is attributed to the 4000mAh battery with 15W fast charging.
The Galaxy A51 will come in four colour options which are: Prism Crush White, Prism Crush Pink, Prism Crush Black, and Prism Crush Blue.
Price for Malaysia region is yet to be revealed, so stay tuned!
Samsung Galaxy A71
The Galaxy A71 is slightly larger than the Galaxy A51 with a 6.7-inch display that features 1080 x 2400 pixels resolution (at 393 ppi density) while its screen-to-body ratio is at 87.2%. Its aspect ratio is also 20:9 just like the Galaxy A51. The front-facing selfie camera is the same punch hole unit at 32MP.
The back also has a diamond-cut design, and the difference can be noticed much easier when you compare it to the Galaxy A51 side by side. The rear camera setup, on the other hand, is a higher range at 64MP main and 12MP ultra wide, while the depth sensor and macro camera are the same as the Galaxy A51 at 5MP.
Internally, unlike the Galaxy A51, the Galaxy A71 has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 730 processor and an Adreno 618 GPU. It also has two configurations according to GSMArena at 128GB ROM and 6GB RAM or 128GB ROM and 8GB RAM. We are not sure if Samsung Malaysia will be bringing in only one configuration, or both. More storage can be expanded via the microSD card slot up to 1TB as well.
It has a larger battery compared to the Galaxy A51 at 4500mAh and also comes in four colour options that are slightly different in their hues, namely prism crush black, prism crush blue, prism crush pink, and prism crush white.
The price for the Samsung Galaxy A71 for Malaysia region remains unknown but we will be sure to keep our eyes and ears peeled for it.
