Advancements in phone cameras have been, and arguably still are, one of the quintessential innovation aspects for smartphones. Some might not pay them any mind, but DxOMark has established themselves as a form of evaluative body in standardising scores for image quality, so naturally phone are something they always tackle.
Even with the S10 series’ very recent showcase, DxOMark already has scores for the Galaxy S10 Plus cameras, and it now has the overall best score for its camera - an average score of 109 for the rear camera, matching score with Huawei Mate 20 Pro and P20 Pro. So it’s up to the Selfie score to push the S10 Plus to the top - which it did! Scoring an impressive 96, it blows past the likes of the Google Pixel 3 and their very own Galaxy Note 9. Are these score arbitrary? They could very well be - plus when you get to this kind of quality, it’s more about how the brands do the post processing which are significantly different among each other.
