Redmi Note 4 is Xiaomi's latest phablet with a sweet price point

Fresh off Xiaomi's Chinese launch is a new upgrade for the Redmi Note line

Xiaomi just announced the latest Redmi Note, the Note 4 which looks like it might continue in the vein of its popular brethren.

A phablet for the masses

What can you expect this time around? There's the 10-core Helio X20 processor, a sleek metal unibody and a big 4100mAh battery. There's also the fingerprint sensor, which Xiaomi claims is ultra-fast.

It also offers a 2.5D glass, 5.5in Full HD display and two variants: one with 16GB of storage and 2GB of RAM, while the second has 64GB and 3GB of RAM respectively.

As for the camera, expect a 13MP f/2.0 rear camera with phase-detection autofocus and a 5MP front camera. Also expect dual-SIM slots and support for microSD cards with up to 128GB of storage. Xiaomi has also put up samples of the phone's photographic capabilities here.  Colour variations available for the moment are gold, silver and grey, with some third market resellers already stocking the grey edition.

The phones will be available on its website, you can check out the Redmi Note 4 main webpage here. Besides the website, the phone will be on sale at Mi Home stores as well as China Mobile's online and offline channels.

Pricing is RMB899 (RM545) and RMB1199 (RM730) for the 16GB and 64GB versions respectively. While the phone will be available in China, global availability has not as yet been announced. Following Xiaomi's track record, it might take a couple of months before it becomes available in major Asian markets. We'll keep you posted once the phone goes live here.
