Ready your iPhones, we have a date with Apple on 9 September

And of course, we'll be bringing all the action to you live from the frontlines

This just in - an invitation from Apple for a media event on 9 September in San Francisco.

With a coy line that says “Hey Siri, give us a hint”, we think Apple has given a huge spoiler. After all, the intelligent voice assistant resides in Apple’s iPhones and iPads, giving us enough confidence to think that it’ll be revealing their new iPhone.

Don’t expect a radical redesign of the iPhone as it’s most likely a mid-cycle update with better hardware, just as Apple did with the iPhone 4/4s and iPhone 5/5s.

That said, there are rumours that Apple is refreshing the Apple TV lineup. In particular, Siri might make an appearance in the new Apple TV. So for all we know, this Siri-related announcement could just be for Apple TV. Plus, the rumour mill is also pointing to a possible iOS 9 powered Apple TV, a first for the media streaming box.

Historically speaking though, Apple has always maintained the month of September to unveil its iPhones. Plus, its ongoing bitter rivalry with Samsung has been escalated with the early release of the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 and Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+.

Our money’s still on the new iPhones. If not , at least there’ll be new Apple TVs ready for you.

We'll be there
