The latest Perodua Myvi has been officially launched in Singapore today, with two of its third-generation variants made available with the 1.3X AT and 1.5H AT at S$64,800 (MYR 197,093) and S$69,800 (MYR 212,301) respectively. The cost is inclusive of GST and the country's mandatory Certificate of Entitlement (COE).
To compare, the Perodua Myvi 1.3X AT and 1.5H AT costs MYR 46,590 and MYR 50,290 here in Malaysia, which makes the Perodua Myvi in Singapore four to five times more expensive! With that amount of money, we can likely tell our Singaporean brothers and sisters that we own an executive car.
Of course, this comes at no surprise considering the cost of the COE and other regulations that come with owning a car in Singapore.
According to Paul Tan, the number of new cars registered in Singapore varies by a fair amount year to year – 80,281 units in 2018, 91,922 in 2017, 87,504 in 2016 and 57,589 in 2015, according to Land Transport Authority statistics.
The Perodua Myvi launch was held last Saturday at Perocom Auto’s outlet in Ubi, where it already attracted some 250 customers. Perocom Auto has been the sole authorised Perodua distributor in Singapore since 1997. Previously, it sold the Kancil, Kembara, Kelisa, original Myvi, Viva, Axia and Bezza there.
