Earlier today on Weibo, OPPO Vice President Brian Shen shared several photos of an interesting unnamed new smartphone from the company. The mystery OPPO phone sports a dual-edge curved screen, perhaps one of the largest one so far, apart from the likes found on Samsung’s S and Note series or Huawei’s P or Mate series.
The smartphone offers a slim body with a high screen-to-body ratio and 88-degree curves on both sides. Even more screen estate compared to the Find X. Shen dubbed the new display design as the ‘Waterfall Screen’, and judging by several images of the mystery phone being compared to the OPPO Find X could actually hint that this new smartphone might be a next generation entry of that model.
The absence of a notch or thick bezels which usually houses a front-facing camera indicates that the phone may feature a pop-up camera module or most possibly OPPO’s new under-display camera which the company had previewed a while back. While Samsung also had plans to introduce their own under-display camera prior to this, OPPO is the first smartphone manufacturer to actually showcase the technology to the public during Mobile World Congress Shanghai 2019.
For now the phone will still remain a mystery, that is until OPPO themselves would make an official reveal of it in the near future. Until then, we could only speculate to what unique features it could offer and what hardware it might pack under its hood.
