OnePlus 5T gets open beta for Oreo

UPDATE: There are now official download links for beta software for the OnePlus 5T and OnePlus 5

While the OnePlus 5T is probably the best OnePlus phone right now, owners of the OnePlus 5 will soon get a software update that should ease their gadget envy a bit.

UPDATE 2/1/2018: If you're keen on trying out new beta builds, OnePlus has made new downloads available for the OnePlus 5T and the OnePlus. As always be sure to backup your phone and know just how to restore your phone in case the beta is buggy.

Get the OnePlus 5T Oreo beta here and to try out the edition for the OnePlus 5, you can get it here.

Besides the December Android security patch, updating to Oreo will also see a tweaked launcher as well as the Picture in Picture mode.

Hello, Oreo

OnePlus confirmed on Twitter that the OnePlus 5 is getting the Face Unlock feature that's available on the OnePlus 5T. The phone also just received a new update to bring it up to Android 8.0 Oreo as well as OxygenOS 5.0.

Besides enabling the latest Android interface and new features such as the parallel apps available on OxygenOS 5.0, the update will also feed in OnePlus' latest security patch.

If you don’t have it yet on your phone, chances are you’ll get it sometime over the next few days. Can’t wait? Users on VPN say switching your region to Canada gets the update started immediately.
