Nexus 5X makes a late, but super-affordable, debut

Less than RM1200 for the 32GB version

While the Huawei Nexus 6P was already launched quite some time back, the Nexus 5X made by LG seemed as though it would never arrive. After all, you could easily buy it from grey market importers. Better late than never this time around though as not only is the phone official, it comes at a super low price that's hard to resist.

While the Nexus 5X is more of a midrange device unlike its bigger brother the Nexus 6P, it does however share the same camera and fingerprint sensor, as well as stock Android. Malaysia will only get the 32GB version however but as it is priced at just RM1199, it's hard to complain.

Specs-wise the phone has a Snapdragon 808 processor, 2GB of RAM, a 5.2in Full HD screen and a 12.3MP rear camera and 5MP front camera. There is no microSD card slot on the phone however but people who can get along just fine with 32GB might not necessarily mind. Also new is the addition of a Type C slot, though the cable included is only Type C to Type C, which means it's cable-buying time for those who want an alternative when it comes to charging.

The biggest pull however is the software. Expect zippy updates and whenever Android gets an update, know that your Nexus 5X is probably just days or weeks away from getting a tweak. For those who are keen on the latest and greatest when it comes to Android, the Nexus 5X seems like a very affordable dream.

Still with so many midrange phones around the same price point, the Nexus 5X might still be a tough sell. Let's hope that some sweet accessories also make their way here as well.
