Microsoft selling Windows 10 on USB sticks, goodbye DVDs

So begins the long, slow death of the optical drive

Microsoft is making the smarter move to ship Windows 10 retail via USB Flash Drives, with not a Windows 10 DVD in sight.

The new operating system is already available for pre-orders on Amazon for the prices of US$120 for Windows 10 Home and US$200 for Windows 10 Pro.

Shipping date for both of these OSes are scheduled on August 16, almost 2 weeks after Windows 10 launches. The target market for these are probably people who are not eligible for the free upgrade (Windows 7 with Service Pack 1 and WIndows 8 users) or for those who simply feel more secure with a physical copy.
